4 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling Genesis 2021

1. All Heart

Blake Christian. Keep that name at the front of your minds, wrestling fans.

Making it to the finals of the 2021 Super X Cup tournament against Ace Austin, Blake showed exactly what it means to be nicknamed 'All Heart', as he poured everything he had into walking home with that trophy. His matches vs. KC Navarro and Crazzy Steve were mere showcases of what he can do; this was the full museum display.

With Madman Fulton staying in the back to allow for a fair match, Blake and Ace put forward a genuine contender for Match of the Year. Austin's cockiness combined with Christian's never-say-die attitude came together like Kota Ibushi and reckless apron bumps on his neck. Needless to say, this is worth going out of your way to watch.

A slew of impressive sequences throughout the match included callbacks to their encounters earlier in the evening, with Blake failing to connect with the 450 splash that saw him win his semifinal bout. Add on to that the abundance of rollups traded towards the match's culmination, concluding with Ace falling into a Fold, was the perfect ending to such a varied tournament.

While you can argue Blake Christian should have won the tournament, there's numerous other avenues you can go down to create a star in 'The Gamechanger' should he officially sign with the company. As for Ace Austin, he needed something like this to put him back on the map after such a long absence following Bound For Glory in October.

A mixed tournament, but the right ending.
