4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (27 May - Results & Review)
DOWNS…
5. When 50/50 Goes Too Far
On what planet does a guy who jobs to everyone – including comedy wrestler R-Truth – suddenly get to go 50/50 and hang 10 minutes with Braun Strowman?
It sounds preposterous, but in the “we have to fill three hours of Raw” world, JD McDonagh actually controlled a portion of the match and hung around for a bit before finally falling to Strowman. JD even got to clip Braun’s knee and work it over a bit to build up a shred of (non-existent) doubt.
Calling it 50/50 is a bit of a stretch, but on paper, this should have been 98/2, not 60/40. There simply was no good reason to have this match last as long as it did or give McDonagh as much offense as they did when he’s been nothing short of a goof and human punching bag for months.
There are a lot more convincing ways for someone who doesn’t have a prayer to hang around in a match. This was just a “pad out the runtime” match that had you looking at your phone and waiting for the inevitable outcome.
