3. Knight Continues His Quest
On one hand, Monday night was yet another mediocre, competently worked main event that involved The Vision and a longstanding group of babyfaces. Lather, rinse, repeat.
However, the Elimination Chamber qualifying triple threat carried a bit of extra heft beyond a spot in the eponymous match: LA Knight got another measure of revenge on The Vision, more specifically, Austin Theory.
Knight pinned Theory after Penta had been subdued outside the ring and the latest masked man had flattened Austin and lured the rest of The Vision away from ringside. Since returning at the Royal Rumble, Knight has targeted the stable that put him out of action for a month, with the avowed purpose of taking each of them out of action. It’s far from a main-event angle, but it’s logical and linear.
Although he hasn’t crossed paths with CM Punk yet, it’s fair to assume that Knight will eventually end up in the world champion’s orbit again since The Vision has always set its sights on that title. If and when that happens, that could make for a fun, compelling feud.
But for now, Knight acting as a Vision bounty hunter is perfectly fine mid-card fodder. But it should not be occupying the main event slot again.
