4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 6)

2. "Edge-Lite, Kid"

Edge Seth Rollins

Edge called Seth Rollins "Edge-lite", Rollins claimed he's better now than the 'Rated-R Superstar' has ever been, and fans in Tampa played along by 'ooh-ing' and aah-ing' at all the barbs between both men. Yep, this back-and-forth verbal showdown was a winner.

Promos were a highlight on SmackDown overall.

If Rollins could shed the 'Million Dollar Man' evil laugh (now there's a trope that WWE leans on too heavily these days) and keep his verbiage intense, then he'll become the best backup heel to Roman that SmackDown could hope for. Seth is definitely enjoying the chance to work with Edge though, and it shows.

The same can probably be said in reverse as well. Edge, who schools everybody on the roster whenever he picks up a microphone, has been talking about this match for years now. Finally, at SummerSlam, it'll happen. A few more weeks of this energetic build and they'll be fine.
