4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 6)
3. Big E In The Title Frame
Seeing Big E pop up to scare the crap out of Paul Heyman may never get old.
OK, so WWE are gonna have to make things less one-dimensional than this eventually, but they can get by on meagre scraps until a little later in the year. Then, they'll have to pull the trigger. Think Sting stalking the nWo in WCW, only with more comedy and definitely a lighter tone overall.
E is in the background for now. He's content to show up and freak Heyman out, which is 100% better than working a meaningless feud with some midcard heel that won't go anywhere anyway. Of course, again, SmackDown's writers can't have the New Day heavy doing this stuff forever. He needs to wrestle at some stage.
It is neat to see E end segments in which stars like Roman Reigns and John Cena are discussed though. Hopefully, with a little patience and a succession of well-worked wins, Mr. MITB can go on become the top boy everyone wants him to be next year.
