4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 1)

4. The Point?

There wasn't anything on the line in Pearce's hastily-arranged Battle Royal either. That meant the likes of Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn and Sheamus (who will all be putting their bodies through hell on Saturday night) were fighting for absolutely sod all 24 hours out from a golden opportunity.

Why?!

It didn't make sense that any of these dudes would fight as hard as they did for nothing. Also, Happy Corbin looked so thick for thinking his Battle Royal win somehow handed him the final MITB spot. That wasn't discussed at all, so who knows why Corbs would think he was in the ladder bout.

Authority figures often look silly or make random decisions for the sake of it, but Pearce is starting to take the p*ss there. Unfortunately, WWE's grand plan for the default GM is to have him continue a feud that can't really go anywhere...
