Hot take: Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky are pretty good at opening PLEs in title matches.

The two challenged Women’s World Champion Naomi to kick off Sunday’s show, and all three wrestlers delivered a pretty solid title match. Naomi started out by bailing to the outside, but once she was forced back in, the champ dominated the early part, which kept Rhea and Iyo from getting physical for the first several minutes. That was a clever move, building the anticipation while establishing that Naomi was on equal footing with the more established main-eventers.

The back half of the match was solid action, with all three women getting chances to shine. Naomi had a great moment where she hit Rhea with a split-legged moonsault, then rolled off her own pinfall when she saw Iyo flying in with a moonsault of her own. It showed ring awareness from the champion. Ripley and Sky continued to dazzle in their one-on-one segments, naturally.

The finish saw Rhea hit Iyo with an Avalanche Riptide, only for Naomi to roll Ripley up for the pin. You could call that a cowardly heel move, but Naomi was in the mix throughout the match and kept attacking – this was just an opportune moment for her.

While nowhere on the level of the WrestleMania triple threat opener, this was a pretty good match to kick off the show.
