4 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 20)
2. Street Fighting Sting?
The idea of 61-year-old Sting working a STREET FIGHT against Taz's group of trained killers is nutty. AEW will likely go cinematic with this match, in whatever form it takes. We know this from the comments Sting made on such bouts last month. Given his injury history, it's likely the only way the guy can realistically fight. It'll be interesting to see how AEW pulls it off.
Team Taz challenged Sting and Darby Allin to take it to the streets in a well-played segment. Taz and co. cut in via big screen as Sting congratulated Allin on retaining his TNT Championship, playing the victims after pointing out Sting's interference. They also noted, rightly, that Allin used a belt on Brian Cage, inviting them to get nasty in the next chapter.
After a whisper in the ear from Sting, Darby told Team Taz to be careful what they wish for - or they just might get it.
Taz is it his best when aggressively painting him and his group as victims, even when they are at least partly responsible for what happened. He cut a good promo in a segment that was short, sweet, and to the point, wasting no time in plotting the next step forward.
