4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (3 July - Review)

DOWNS…

6. Out Of Context, This Was Great

Shayna Baszler cut a pretty decent babyface promo Monday night to explain her actions at Money in the Bank, when she turned on Ronda Rousey to cost them the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

The Queen of Spades talked about how she was sorry for bringing Rousey into the wrestling business, that Ronda never paid her dues or had to work to get where she was in WWE, and that she was the only person who could put the Baddest Woman on the Planet in her place.

Sounds great when taken completely out of context.

But this came with no warning, no setup, no establishment of Ronda’s entitlement eating away at Baszler. Rousey & Baszler had been tag champs with no visible issues for the past month. And Shayna hasn’t been a consistent, dominant force in WWE since she was first called up to the main roster in 2020.

So while this promo and brawl might make you think we could be in for a nice MMA-inspired feud (and really, that’s a logical move), this fell flat to anyone actually trying to find the thread Monday night. No one was yelling “Finally!” at their TV when Baszler called Rousey out.
