4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (July 19)

Ups…

4. Leading To Something Big?

Dominik Mysterio The Judgment Day

We’ve spent so long giving WWE little to no credit for being able to tell stories more than one week at a time, but things have been leading to a big return and a big turn, and if that’s coming to fruition, then we should take our hats off.

Edge was taken out of action by his own stable, The Judgement Day, last month, but recent vignettes and the heels’ own smug attitude about the Hall-of-Famer being sidelined lead you to believe that he should be returning soon. Then consider that next week’s Raw is in Madison Square Garden, WWE’s home turf, and you have the makings of a big return.

Now, add in that Raw next week will mark the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio’s WWE debut, and the fact that he and Edge were a formidable tag team back in 2002, and that Rey has been battling the Judgement Day, and you can see how the stars all align.

Then you have Judgement Day trying to recruit Dominik Mysterio. All of these factors seem to be on a collision course. Rey recruits an old friend with an axe to grind against Judgement Day, and Dom turns on his dad. Things continued to progress Monday night down this line pretty nicely, with Rey no match for Damian Priest, and Dominik unable to do anything except meekly agree to join the group – and get battered for it.

Of course, this is all giving WWE a lot of credit, so maybe it’ll end up being misplaced after next week.
