4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Feb 11)

Ups...

Sonya Deville

Deville's power trip at the top of the show, meanwhile, was a hoot.

She did a decent job of portraying a snooty authority figure who'd been overwhelmed by a powerful babyface (Ronda) last week, and Sonya wanted to hit down by flexing her dominion over SmackDown. That led to Adam Pearce coming out to read some feedback from one Vince McMahon, which put Deville in her place.

Everybody did well with what they had here. There are also signs that WWE are ready to move on from Sonya as a suited, booted authority and put her back in the ring full time. That's overdue, being quite honest, and could give the women's division another top heel to focus on post-WrestleMania.

Of course, this is WWE so there was a plot hole; Pearce/McMahon stopped Deville from fining Rousey $100,000, because that would've been power madness. Erm...Adam did that to Brock Lesnar after screwing everything up? Nobody said d*ck then.

Regardless, this opening promo was fine.
