4 Ups & 7 Downs From NXT Spring Breakin'
1. Triple Threat In 5th Gear
If you were looking for a match that most closely resembled the old black-and-gold NXT and the well-rehearsed, crisp TakeOver matches, look no further than the North American Championship triple threat that opened Spring Breakin’.
Cameron Grimes, Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sokoa put their collective feet on the gas pedal and didn’t stop for 15 minutes. The trio flew through a series of counters, reversals, big spots, high-impact collisions and eye-popping offense. We got a couple of unique spots involving all three men, including a Tower of Doom spot that saw Grimes leap up to try to hurricanrana Sokola, but he grabbed Hayes off the top for a superplex.
All three men came an eyelash away from winning, but it was Grimes with a Cave-In off the top while Solo had Melo up for a Samoan Drop that finished things off.
All action, bell to bell. You really couldn’t ask for much more from NXT 2.0. For a quarter-hour, you almost forgot you were watching the reboot.
