Honestly, do we need the 24/7 Championship any longer? We all can acknowledge how great R-Truth can be in backstage segments, so why not have him just vamp? Why do we need a title that changes hands via rollup 100 times?

But we got a 24/7 title match – yes, an actual match – between Truth and Drew Gulak as part of the kickoff show. And was about what you’d imagine, with Truth rolling up Daniel Bryan’s former coach/mentor/tag partner to retain.

As someone who initially hated the 24/7 Championship and then came around 180 degrees thanks to Truth, this writer can unequivocally state that it’s long since jumped the shark and needs to be buried. The good nights are far outweighed these days, and this was pretty bad.

Just let Truth goof around and we can all laugh, but trying to make the 24/7 title work at this point has got to be becoming a chore. Either that, or maybe don’t keep putting it out there every week if you’ve got nothing.
