4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2020

3. A 14-Time Champ

You almost have to feel bad for Randy Orton. He was peaking as a heel earlier this summer, reigniting his Legend Killer persona and getting picking up steam.

But then things got dragged out as his feud with Drew McIntyre was stretched over three months and it became a chore to watch. Any interest waned as you saw the champ fawning over the legends who Orton had attacked and they were repeatedly dragged into the storyline. It was bad.

However, there was hope that Sunday would mark the end of the feud, with McIntyre solidifying his status as a top guy by decisively ending this with his third straight win. Instead, Orton capitalized on a missed Claymore, hit an RKO and won his 14th world title.

Why are we getting this result now, as opposed to last month or the month before? Quite possibly, it could have something to do with Survivor Series, because we just have to have champions from each brand facing each other, and WWE brass probably want to keep McIntyre and Roman Reigns apart.

So the solution simply was to take the title off McIntyre – rather than just not booking the match in the first place. Either way, is anyone excited for yet another Randy Orton world title reign? WWE is gonna have to work overtime to make a believer here.
