4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2020

WWE really booked themselves into a corner in multiple ways with the Randy Orton/Drew McIntyre Hell in a Cell match Sunday.

First off, it was the third match between them in a boring, dragged-out feud that would have died a horrible death in front of a live audience. Second, it was a slow and methodical match taking place in the cell when the circumstances called for something more aggressive. Third, it was the third cell match on the card, coming after two pretty good and vicious ones. And fourth, the other two cell matches had infinitely better storylines behind them.

But overall, this cell match was just so slow and uninteresting. Maybe if the feud still had legs, it could have carried better, but after watching Roman Reigns brutalize his cousin, and seeing Bayley and Sasha Banks tear into each other as their friendship evaporated, seeing Orton methodically pound McIntyre just wasn’t doing it.

And one big spot of Drew falling 10 feet off the cell through a table wasn’t enough to make up for it. Sorry, no buys for this one. But… maybe the feud is finally over, so yay?
