4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (March 14)
1. Tag Division Shines Again
How did WWE go from having a dismal, non-existent tag team division on Raw to having it be one of the few standout units on the show?
Last week’s triple threat match for the Raw Tag Team Championship was stellar, and Monday’s celebration by new champs RK-Bro produced some good story advancement, with Randy Orton effusively praising and thanking his friend and partner Riddle. This gave way to the Street Profits coming out to interrupt… and lay down a challenge.
In another nice piece of storytelling, Orton declined the request, but Riddle talked him into it, noting that RK-Bro needs an opponent for WrestleMania and the Profits did beat them in a tag match a couple of weeks ago. (You can almost see the setup if they lost at Mania and Orton blames Riddle for talking him into the match. Or that could not happen and things could carry on just fine.)
With the tag title match set up, we got a singles bout between Riddle and Montez Ford, but that ended abruptly when Alpha Academy blindsided both teams and took out everyone, presumably making the case for the former champs to be entered into the tag title feud.
As with the Raw match last week, this could be a show-stealer if given the opportunity at Mania.
