4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 7)

2. Big E's Fire

Big E

Go out of your way to watch Big E's first solo promo since ye olden days of 2014 on WWE's official YouTube channel. Anyone in pro wrestling will tell you that the best interviews are often those between 90 seconds and two minutes. This was living proof of that theory.

E had fire, poise, something to say and managed to maintain the importance of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to his cause when they weren't even present. That takes talent, and this dude has it in abundance. His preacher-like delivery instantly whisks viewers back to the shouty-shouty days of the 80s without feeling like a parody.

If WWE fail to make this singles run work, then that's on them. E has all the skills needed to become a company headliner. He can work against anybody, he's experienced, he can talk and he has legitimate backing from most of the watching audience.

He's a Universal Champion in the making.
