4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 7)

1. That Nexus Nod

The positivity of this entry should be tempered with a warning: WWE better follow up on Retribution's carnage next week, otherwise it'll be all for naught. Their crowd-beating, announce-table-flipping, rope-cutting chainsaw mayhem deserves better than to be stuffed in a box and treated like an afterthought.

Surely, that won't happen, but there's always a fear that WWE will change their minds and get cold feet on stories like this. Still, the Nexus vibes were practically pulsating through the screen when these hooded thugs started wrecking everything in their path.

This was such a good way to end SmackDown.

Provided the writers have a satisfying end goal in mind for the group, they'll be fine. Unlike the whole Shorty G and 'King' Corbin ransom thing, their mystery is one worth waiting to find out more about, and it shouldn't take too long before Retribution reveal who they are and why they want to tear down WWE.
