4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 7)

5. Credibility? What Credibility?

Here's a recap.

Gran Metalik opportunistically won an Intercontinental Title shot several weeks ago and then promptly lost to AJ Styles. Now, his Lucha House Party partner Lince Dorado has done the job on this week's SmackDown to Cesaro. So, can someone explain how any of this makes them engaging, credible challengers for the tag belts?

Metalik and Dorado have been portrayed as jobbers for so long that there's a stink on them. Whilst they are good workers, they're hardly ones fans take seriously, and it's a bit rich of WWE to bury them underneath mediocrity for so long then magically expect people to care.

Good matches are even better when there's some doubt hanging over them. If the Lucha boys challenge Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the SmackDown Tag Titles at SummerSlam, then they'll need more than whatever this humdrum booking offered.
