The World Tag Team Championship match carried low expectations, not because of the wrestlers involved, but because of the low investment in the story.

The match itself, assigned the death slot of following Jey Uso’s World Heavyweight Championship victory, was OK, but it played out mostly to silence until the big spots toward the end. The War Raiders have not clicked with fans in this iteration, and New Day has stalled tremendously since their incredible heel turn.

The bout dragged on for too long, building to New Day cheating to win and then scurrying up the ramp like true heels. Here’s hoping that this sparks something good for New Day moving forward, as they desperately need positive momentum after months stuck in neutral.
