4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 41 - Night 1 (Results & Review)

6. Announcers… Again

Calling a live, scripted show has to be a difficult assignment, no doubt, but plenty of announcers have managed to do more than a serviceable job at it.

And then there’s WWE’s crew for WrestleMania 41.

Wade Barrett turned in his usual solid effort in his first 'Mania, but Pat McAfee immediately garnered “mute the show” vibes yelling “yeet” like a drunk partygoer during Jey Uso’s entrance. He carried on throughout the show, but that initial outburst was his worst performance of the night.

Then there’s Michael Cole. The Voice of WWE. First, he commented during the WWE Women’s Championship match that two titles had changed hands at that point – the World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships – completely whiffing on Jacob Fatu winning the United States title, and he never corrected that miscue.

In the main event, Cole couldn’t help himself and once again made reference to a “Shield chair” when Seth Rollins walloped Roman Reigns. What in the blue hell is a “Shield chair”? Just say he wielded a chair like he did when he broke up the Shield.

These weren’t fatal flaws with the announcing, but these were easily avoidable problems.
