4 Ups & 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 14)

Downs…

8. So Close, But Another Whiff

Jaxson Ryker Elias

WWE finally had a good idea that made sense, and then they dropped the ball at the last minute. After years of being interrupted and beat up during his songs, Elias finally got some muscle on Monday night in the form of Jaxson Ryker.

But instead of a simple, logical reasoning, they opted to have Ryker claim that Elias’ music “changed” him, that he was “reborn” and was here to prevent people from interrupting Elias’ performances. It doesn’t sound horrible, but it also wasn’t convincing in the slightest. Ryker’s claim was a stretch at best, but being so superficial really hurt it.

Wouldn’t a far easier, more plausible explanation have been that Elias cashed in on the success of his latest album and hired Ryker as his personal security? Ryker would be a muscle-for-hire instead of some “true believer” of Elias’ music, which leaves more possibilities open for both. It also would have made sense that Elias hired some help rather than stumbling upon a convert due to his music.

Again, WWE had a decent idea, but their writers just can’t seem to put it all together.
