4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (April 26)

1. Hoss Fight

Braun Strowman Drew McIntyre

WWE has been burning through a series of “first time ever” matches during the past year, and Monday was no exception, as surprisingly, Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre battled in a singles bout for the first time.

It’s a shame that the match had somewhat of a foregone conclusion, with Braun’s world title shot hanging in the balance, but despite the outside interference, this was a pretty good match between two big men. McIntyre and Strowman hit each other with a lot of offense you don’t see from guys weighing 275-375 pounds. Braun slammed Drew off the top rope, ala Ric Flair. He also did a forward roll during an Irish Whip sequence. McIntyre hit a belly-to-belly throw and a big spinebuster, while Braun nailed a superplex.

It was the kind of hoss fight you like to see from two big, athletic guys, and was reminiscent of Strowman’s match against Big Show a while back, where they did a bunch of stuff you don’t see with giants. Typically they plod along and club away, but this was fun to watch for the most part, obvious ending aside.

Throwing Bobby Lashley into the mix could make for a really interesting triple threat at the PPV, so this has potential.
