4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (March 8)

2. Simplicity In The Message

Contrast The Miz’s lengthy regurgitation of everything that happened last week with the succinct comments from the new WWE Champion on Monday night.

Bobby Lashley opened Raw cutting a promo earlier in the day about how he’s a happy man who’s been through a lot, enough that would break a normal man. Lashley then talked about his 16-year journey to become champion, dealing with the politics and others pushing to the front of the line while he put in the work.

The champ then tied that frustration into his beatdown of Miz during and after their title match last week noting that Miz’s evasive tactics were simply delaying the inevitable.

All told, it was a relatively short, but powerful and effective promo. Lashley kept it focused and gave what could be interpreted as a “tweener” promo by talking about his long journey. It was the opposite of a typical Miz promo, and people should take note of that. Throw in Lashley's straight-up domination of Miz in their title rematch and you have a very complete picture of the kind of champion the All Mighty could be.
