3. Hey, That’s A Good Point!

Whenever a wrestler’s promo makes you stop and yell at the TV, “Hey, he’s got a point!” you’re onto something.

On Monday night, that was Drew McIntyre’s backstage promo where he noted that Bobby Lashley had put in the work to become WWE Champion. But rather than get a title shot against Drew, he beat the former champ down after a rough Elimination Chamber match, just to set up the Miz to win the title so that he could then beat “the frickin’ Miz” for the championship.

McIntyre then yelled about how he beat Brock Lesnar for the same title and asked where Lashley’s passion, heart, and… fortitude were. It was Drew pointing out the difference in who each man beat for the title that made you sit up a bit and take notice. If you want a compelling reason for a title match – beyond just the “he beat me up” storyline – then the fact that Lashley hasn’t beaten anybody for the title definitely adds a dimension to things.

It’ll be interesting to see how things progress from here, but odds are that they’ve got something going here. It’s just a question of whether it will all click.
