Ups…

4. 24/7 Silliness

Going all-in with the silliness that surrounds the 24/7 Championship is the only way for it to really be successful and for the segments to work.

Recently, they’ve fallen flat, but Monday night, things fell into place nicely. R-Truth was playing chess with Little Jimmy when a ninja delivered a note from Akira Tozawa. The note commented that if Truth was reading it, he had been eaten by a shark. It name-dropped Kung Fu-Naki. And then, as the ninja presented Truth with Tozawa’s black belt (from a glowing briefcase ala Pulp Fiction), Akira emerged from under a table and rolled Truth up for the 24/7 title.

But we weren’t done.

The ninja hit Tozawa with a briefcase and pinned him for the title, then unmasked as Drew Gulak. Truth then waffled Gulak with the briefcase and pinned him to win the title back, and fled.

Total silliness, with a handful of funny references. This one just worked.
