4 Ups & 9 Downs From WWE Raw (2 Aug)
2. Good, Simple Wrestling
This ruled.
Though only two-and-a-half minutes in length, and born of something as dumb as Omos trashing one of Riddle's scooters, the mauling was exactly what it needed to be. Omos was big, slow, and powerful, able to destroy his opponent with only a couple of moves. He played to his strengths, hid his weaknesses, and looked good in doing so.
This owed much to Riddle's own performance. He bumped and sold like a pro, even in these short windows, and attacked Omos like lightning. He was urgent, on fire, and fighting for his life, and though he showed enough fight to survive two 10-count teases and recovery with a flurry of flying knees, Omos' two-handed choke bomb ended up putting him down.
Omos understands his limitations and doesn't try to work beyond them. This was clear opposite Riddle, who is a more traditionally skilled athlete, but one that could believably fall to a man of Omos' mammoth size under these circumstances. The only thing "wrong" with this is that WWE bait-and-switched a Randy Orton return for the show that didn't happen.
