4 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Oct 11)

4. Act Two

Smackdown opened with the happiest man on the blue brand, Dolph Ziggler. The new Intercontinental Champion spoke about how he thought that he may have been stepping into the ring for the last time at No Mercy, but with some help from the fans, he achieved his goal. Fans chanted "You deserve it!" at "The Showoff."

That brought out The Miz and Maryse, who were both dressed all in black. Miz said he was mourning the death of the Intercontinental Championship, but Dolph, of course, was all smiles. Miz promised that this was only act two of their story, and that he - like any good film hero - would make his comeback and reclaim the gold.

This was a great way to follow up on the best match from No Mercy. Dolph was good and Miz was excellent, and even though the program between the two men probably already peaked, a rematch will still be interesting. Let's hope there are important things ahead for The Miz, Intercontinental Title or no.
