4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 22)

1. Finn Balor Looks Great In Gold

It was Finn Balor's first official episode as champion and he bookended the show with style. Personally, Balor's soft-spoken babyface rhetoric comes across as a little bit promo-by-numbers (after all, aren't all babyface humble and full of gratitude to the fans and etc etc etc), but it was still very gratifying to see the fans embrace him with full throat, chanting, "You Deserve It" as he stood in the ring, dapper as hell, carrying his belt. As mentioned earlier, he also got one over on Kevin Owens during the show's headline segment, the contract signing destined to descend into violence. He withstood Owen's offence and gave him a vicious kick to send him scurrying away, and, as an Englishman, there's something inherently cool about a watching a man doling out a beating dressed in a tailored suit. It was an impressive debut performance as champion, proof if proof be needed, that The Demon has arrived.
