4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Oct 15)
1. Finnless At Full Sail
Ok, yes, I get it, you can't fit everything into an hour, that's one of the few downsides of NXT, and I'm certainly not advocating an increase in running time, but not to have the NXT Champ make an appearance at all felt like wasted opportunity. The NXT Championship took a back seat in September, and that was a smart decision by the bookers. Pushing the Tag Team Classic, the Women's Championship and the NXT championship all at the same time would have diluted the impact of all three, but with the focus of tonight's episode so tightly on the Men's big belt, why not actually see it out there in front of the live crowd? This would be much less of a problem had there not been a golden opportunity to have Balor appear at the end of the Battle Royal. Apollo Crews would have been celebrating to the crowd, his music playing, when the demon's theme would hit, and out would walk Balor. He would stand there, belt around his waist, size up his #1 Contender, and maybe even smile. Giving the fans a glimpse of the match-up would have been a much stronger way to end the show. A shame.
