4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 16)
3. Barrett Saying King Of The Ring Is "Prestigious" Is A Joke
Poor King Barrett. Look at how midcard performers get over as good wrestlers. They get matches that go 10-15 minutes, they show that they are capable of having good matches and then they earn the respect or the disdain of the fans. In Barrett's case, he's been booked in short matches nearly every week - including his Smackdown win over Jack Swagger - and treated like a joke as well.
After the match, Barrett did a promo about how R-Truth talks about how prestigious the King of the Ring crown is. No it's not! They have booked him terribly for three months and if anything, winning King of the Ring has been worse for his career.
At least Barrett's promo was solid because he's frustrated with things and telling Truth that he's going to put an end to this is good to hear. The problem is that three months of bad booking is hard to forget and fans aren't going to think of the "king" as a great wrestler unless he's booked much better.
As for Jack Swagger, get him a new tag team partner now. He's really not going anywhere on his own, so find somebody to team up with and see if he can find success that way.
