4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 21)

3. The Divas Title Feud Was Helped By Not Doing A Match

Despite the one part of Paige's promo that felt uncomfortable, the rest of the Divas Title feud is going well. It's pretty rare for WWE to not have a divas match on the show, but that's okay because the promo segment they did was good storyline progression. Following Paige's promo, Naomi complained about how Paige got a Divas Title shot on her first day in WWE...on the main roster at least. Paige fired back at her about how you need to have personality and that Naomi is making excuses. Paige told her to shut up, so that led to Naomi and Tamina attacking Paige. That brawl led to Divas Champion Nikki Bella coming out for the save. When it looked like Naomi and Tamina were going to get away, Nikki actually brought Naomi back in the ring for Paige to nail Naomi with a kick. After Nikki took down Tamina, Nikki nailed Paige with a forearm shot and dropped her with a Rack Attack. That segment was much better than a short match that would have meant nothing. Story development is so important for the divas, so it was refreshing to see the girls getting a chance to further this story. After all that, it became official that Nikki Bella will defend the Divas Title in a triple threat at Elimination Chamber against Naomi and Paige. It seems like the right time for Naomi to win the Divas Title for the first time. She's earned it.
