4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (May 7)

3. Seth Rollins Ended The Night Looking Like A Champion

The Contract Signing segment shouldn't have been the main event, but it was still a well booked segment that ended in a positive way. WWE hasn't done a great job of booking Seth Rollins as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. We know they're trying to paint him as a cheap heel that finds ways to escape with the title, but he's been losing too many matches. Whether it's tag matches or losing clean to Dean Ambrose in a non-title match this past week on Raw, Rollins just hasn't had the look of the best wrestler in the world of late. After all four guys signed the contract (Rollins took his time to get into the ring with the other three guys) and the fans chanted "Justin Bieber" at Rollins again, it turned into a wild brawl as expected. Ambrose had a funny line about how "we all know how this is going to end anyway" leading to the brawl. The purpose of this segment seemed to drive home the point that Rollins was the smartest guy out there and he tried to manipulate the situation by ripping on the other three guys with a scathing promo. Ambrose shoved Reigns, so Orton hit a RKO on Ambrose, Reigns hit a Superman Punch on Orton and then Rollins took down Reigns with a flying knee attack as well as a superkick. Rollins ending the night as the last man standing was a good booking decision. They needed him to come out looking like the best wrestler during this segment. That's what happened. It shouldn't have been the main event, though.
