4 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT In Your House 2022

3. Waiting For The Cultural Appropriation

NXT 2.0 really delves into the bad comedy – whether intentional or not – frequently, and few things have been more unintentionally funny than the pseudo-drama between Legado Del Fantasma and Tony D’Angelo and his goons.

Their pre-recorded vignettes finally gave way to a six-man tag match at In Your House that saw the losing team required to join the winner’s “family.” This meant that regardless of who won, we’re going to likely get more videos and segments of wrestlers trying to act, but this time, it’s going to be Legado having to fit into a stereotypical mob family.

Imagine Cruz del Toro having to learn how to say “fuggeddaboudit” or Jaquin Wilde getting lessons on how to cook pasta. Comically bad, but it could also be hilarious.

Oh, and the match itself wasn’t bad, with the experienced hands in Legado keeping things on the tracks. The finish – with both teams using weapons and one unconscious man being draped onto another – was actually a bit inspired rather than the typical “one team cheats to win” method.

At the very least, this story should now advance a bit, and we’ll get to answer WWE’s favorite question: “But can they co-exist?” And at least this time, it’s an appropriate angle.
