4 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT In Your House 2022

2. Melo Is Money Again

There’s an argument to be made that Carmelo Hayes should have moved on to bigger and better things after his North American Championship reign ended, but he’s been stuck in quicksand since losing the title. So regaining it Saturday night was definitely a positive development.

Hayes regained the title by defeating Cameron Grimes, ending his unspectacular run in an energetic match that saw both men showing why they’re probably both reaching the end of their tenures in developmental. Grimes and Melo are perfectly capable of having solid TV matches at this point in their careers, with the younger Hayes probably benefiting from more exposure as a champion as NXT goes back on the road.

The In Your House match was bolstered by Trick Williams’ antics on the outside, giving Grimes an out in defeat, and further showing how good of an act Williams and Hayes are together.

Hopefully, Hayes will add a little swagger to the North American Championship again.
