4 Ups And 6 Downs From NXT Vengeance Day
DOWNS…
6. Sloppy Tag Action
It’s understandable that when you’re in a title match on a PLE that you’ll want to do something special and fantastic every chance you get. It’s a big spotlight, so go big. Fair enough.
But you’ve got to deliver, and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship match did not deliver its big moments. It was a sloppy match at time, with tentative moments and some herky-jerky action.
It wasn’t a bad match per se, and we’ll give some praise later on, but either the women had butterflies in front of a big crowd, or they were aiming too high with some of the spots, which pulled you out of any willing suspension of disbelief. That’s never a good thing. It defeats the purpose of a wrestling match and instead becomes a series of attempted spots to hopefully go viral.
NXT is technically supposed to be a developmental territory, so why are they going for these huge spots when you can still see the wires? If they hit, then you get a great 20-second clip for social media. But if not, you get exposed.
