4 Ups And 6 Downs From NXT Vengeance Day
1. What’s My Character Direction? Oh, SCREAM!
To say that the remainder of Toxic Attraction without Mandy Rose is a listless ship veering toward an iceberg would be an understatement.
Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin have underwhelmed since becoming a duo, and their first big moment at Vengeance Day was a big disappointment. The two spent a good chunk of the match chewing scenery, screaming and licking their hands in a bizarre display that felt like they had gotten a last-second direction at gorilla to show their unhinged by doing just that.
The NXT Women’s Championship match felt like it was wrestled at half-speed half the time, with Roxanne Perez slowing down her usual smooth action to accommodate Jacy and Gigi. Then you had the “drama” of the Toxic twosome breaking down and turning on each other, only to suddenly reconcile and gang up on Perez just moments before the finish, to no avail.
The entire ordeal was painful, from the “breakup and makeup” to the C-level acting. The fact that the in-ring action was also just a step above pedestrian didn’t help. Here’s hoping for better things for the Prodigy very soon – she’s mint and should have an opponent who showcases her talent, rather than her having to carry the day.
