4 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (June 20)

3. Pin The Champ To Get A Title Shot

Bobby Lashley

It’s one thing to have a challenger defeat a champion in a championship contender’s match to earn a title opportunity to someday possibly be in the conversation to challenge for a championship, but what happened on Raw Monday night was a bit worse.

Theory pitched the idea of a gauntlet match for Bobby Lashley to earn a United States Championship match at Money in the Bank, and Adam Pearce accepted it. We got to see Lashley tangle with Chad Gable and Otis in separate one-on-one matches that were actually pretty decent, leaving the All Mighty weakened for the third opponent.

And that person turned out to be Theory himself in what has to be a big-time boneheaded move. Theory fired off a couple moves and went to A-Town Down, but Lashley reversed to a cradle for the pinfall win. So a weakened Lashley managed to pin the US champ cleanly in about two minutes, and we’re supposed to be amped for a title match in which the All Mighty has rested and is ready for action.

That’s a bold strategy there WWE, let’s see how it plays out.
