4 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 12)

3. The Unseen Enemy

A couple weeks ago, this column gave kudos to WWE for trying something different to rally support to Roman Reigns: make Brock Lesnar out to be the bad guy in absentia.

That continued Monday, when an advertised face-to-face between Brock and Roman was put off once again because Brock didn’t show. Roman unloaded on Lesnar, pointing out that if anyone in the crowd didn’t show up at work, they’d be fired. And that’s a great point.

So why is this a down?

Because it’s not working.

When Vince McMahon (yes, we’re also dragging Vince into the middle of it too) announced that he was suspending Reigns for his disrespect, fans cheered. Loudly. They cheered the suspension of the supposed babyface defending WWE and its fans against the money-grubbing mercenary.

And while they booed Lesnar earlier, they weren’t anointing Reigns as their savior.

Roman is going to get booed out of the stadium at WrestleMania. Bank on it.
