4 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 28)

2. Breaking The Banks

Is there a former four-time world champion who has never successfully defended his title? Maybe a few of Ric Flair’s title reigns ended without a successful title defense, but it’s doubtful.

But here we have Sasha Banks, who once again lost the Raw Women’s Championship Monday night in her first title defense, the fourth time that has happened. It ended Sasha’s latest reign at eight days, giving her four reigns for a total of 83 days. (Bayley’s lone reign was nearly as long – 76 days.)

Building a title match on the foundation that the babyface champ can’t defend her title and then having the heel win cleanly only diminishes the babyface. We saw it happen with Bayley, and now it’s happening with Sasha.

If the goal was to get to Alexa Bliss versus Nia Jax, then why in the hell would you book a title change at SummerSlam (where there were five title changes altogether) that only makes Banks look even more inferior? It’s extremely shortsighted and stupid.

Now, if WWE wants to use this as a basis to turn Banks heel…
