4 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Legends Raw (Jan 4)

2. A Contrived Excuse

Wait a second… Drew McIntyre, who spent half the summer gushing over legends like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Big Show and Christian doesn’t respect the old-timers?

That was Goldberg’s reasoning for challenging the WWE Champion to a title match at Royal Rumble. Sure, McIntyre intimated that it was likely the WCW legend just trying to get in his head, but that’s just a stretch that’s so far out of Goldberg’s character that it makes even less sense than the line the Hall-of-Famer uttered.

In other words, once again, the writers were writing for a person whose character they don’t understand. All that needed to happen was for Goldberg to walk out, congratulate McIntyre and tell him that he hasn’t beat him yet, so Drew is next. Literally, that was all Goldberg needed to say, and that’s all his character would say.

But instead, we got that ridiculous promo about how McIntyre looks down on the legends and doesn’t view them as a threat because they’re washed-up in his eyes. Seriously, what the hell?

Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
