4 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 17)

6. Ummm, Where’s The DQ?

A couple of weeks ago, we saw Asuka attack Bayley on the outside of the ring during a Sasha Banks/Shayna Baszler match that triggered a DQ. We then saw a similar situation during the past two weeks where a fight between non-participants resulted in a DQ.

That’s completely bizarre and makes absolutely no sense, but fine, whatever.

Cue Monday night’s tag match between Sasha Banks & Bayley and Asuka & Shayna Baszler. Early on, Nia Jax jumped the barricade and attacked Baszler continuing their rivalry, as the two brawled at ringside and then out of the arena. Jax clearly hit Baszler several times, in view of the ref, but no DQ was called. In fact, the match just continued on as a 2-on-1 affair until Shayna returned several minutes later to get a tag.

Yes, we get that you need wiggle room sometimes with the rules to help tell stories better, but these two extremes of what constitutes a DQ is just nutso. It’s like they’re not even trying.
