4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 28)

3. Roman Reigns Is Pretty Good At Sitdown Interviews

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slKWbQiRdqU Roman Reigns is questionable as a talker at best. That's a polite way of saying that he's got a lot of improving to do and it may be difficult for him to ever be considered a great promo guy. His in-ring promos have improved in the last few weeks, but he's clearly more comfortable in a sitdown type of setting. On the night after the Royal Rumble when WWE had to do Raw from their studios in Stamford due to a snowstorm, people were praising WWE for having quality sitdown interviews. Reigns was one of the ones that talked. A month later they did it again, this time on Smackdown. There wasn't anything that was totally groundbreaking in this interview, but it felt natural. It was simply Reigns sitting down with Byron Saxton for five minutes to talk about how he wanted to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania to prove himself and to do it for his family. What was cool about the interview was that Reigns talked about how he had to study film of Lesnar and train harder than he ever has. He also spoke about how he needed to talk to his family to get advice from them to help prepare him for the match with Lesnar. It had a sports-like feel to it. That's because Reigns is a former American football player that had hopes of making it in the NFL, so he knows how to do promos like that. Reigns will continue to have his haters, but he can prove them wrong. The match at Fastlane was very good, his work on Raw was solid and this promo was above average too. He needs to keep that momentum going.
