4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 5)

1. Four Matches Ended Under In Three Minutes

This felt like watching a 1991 edition of Superstars where they would have a name opponent beating a loser, then do it three other times in the same show before having a competitive match in the main event. Last week's Smackdown had only four matches in a two hour show, which meant that they got more time to tell stories. This week, things felt very rushed and if you're a viewer at home, it makes you want to turn the show off. Dean Ambrose beat Curtis Axel easily in a continuation from their brief angle from Raw. That outcome was no surprise. Fandango beat Adam Rose in a matchup that probably made the viewers at home want to change the channel. They are two over the top gimmicks that haven't worked out. Rusev defeated Erick Rowan easily. This one wasn't a surprise since Rusev is going to look strong every week because he has for the last year. Rowan is a character that is going to need to go back to being a heel or be in a tag team with a smaller babyface wrestler. He's not going to be a big star as a babyface. The other short match was Paige beating Alicia Fox, which is consistent for the divas getting very little time to do their thing. If the matches are going to be done that quickly and be done that decisively then the people watching at home are going to skip the show because they know they shouldn't waste their time investing in any of these matches.
