The year 2010 wasn't a good one for John Cena. His feud with the Nexus started with a hot 'invasion' style angle from Wade Barrett's group, but it quickly deteriorated into one of the worst stroylines of recent times. Reportedly, Cena's backstage politics were a factor. The main issue fans had with the story, was the quick succession of meaningless stipulations. First of all, Cena lost a match to Barrett which he meant he had to join the Nexus. That gave way to further ridiculousness, like Cena reading out manuscripts on behalf of the Nexus. But then even wackier, Wade Barrett wrestled Randy Orton for the title, with Cena as the special ref and with a stipulation that Cena would be fired if Barrett didn't win. This was right up there with some of the worst creative in Cena's career. Orton ended up winning and Cena was fired. But then he just came back the week after anyway, until he was "rehired" a few weeks later. What the hell was the point?
