40 Years Of Fascinating WWE WrestleMania Facts (Part 3)

2. WrestleMania 29 - Injuries Galore

You'll probably be aware that, at WrestleMania 29, the Rock tore every single muscle in his body from the bone, leaving just a peeled skeleton behind. At least, that's how he tells it.

He was far from the only wrestler to have been "in the wars" in MetLife Stadium. Brock Lesnar was knocked loopy early in his match with Triple H, which might (in part) explain just how horrendously slow it was. The other explanation?

It was a Triple H match at WrestleMania.

Triple H, who jobbed for dry ice in his entrance, also hurt his arm in that match. Even the special guest ref, Shawn Michaels, took a stray and hurt his nose.

The Rock, snark aside, got it the worst. He suffered a hernia and tore both an abdominal muscle and his adductor, and was for a long, long time advised to stay out of the ring to avoid becoming a liability in Hollywood. John Cena didn't get injured in the 'Twice In A Lifetime' match, but he did work it hurt: his thumb was broken and he was suffering from a bout of food poisoning.

All that for two of the most uninspiring rematches in WWE history.
