5 AEW Signings (With WWE Histories You Didn't Know About)

3. Frankie Kazarian

The second member of SoCal Uncensored, Frankie Kazarian’s career dates back to the late 1990s, when he began making the rounds on the independent circuit. An early appearance on WWE Jakked in 2001 (where he and his partner lost to Crash and Hardcore Holly) predated his first stint in TNA between 2003 and 2005, after which he jumped ship to the WWE full time.

His stint would be incredibly short-lived. After debuting on b-show Velocity and christening himself ‘The Future’, Kazarian made short work of Nunzio, Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki on three subsequent tapings before locking up with Paul London a fortnight later. Less than a week after that, he was gone, having publicly stated that the reason for his departure was his realisation that the company had no plans to improve their flailing cruiserweight division. It was heavily rumoured that it was due to his refusal to cut his long hair, however.

An eight year return to TNA followed, where he played the roles of Kaz and the masked Suicide before emerging as one of the company’s stalwarts under his own name, winning five X-Division and three tag team championships before making the move to Ring Of Honor. There he cemented his partnership with Christopher Daniels before they added Scorpio Sky to their ranks.

Now one of the most recognisable faces on the fledgling AEW roster, expect Kazarian to play a major role in the tag team and singles divisions going forwards.
