5 Awful Wrestling Halloween Gimmick Matches You Need To Know About

There's nothing scarier than a WCW Gimmick Match.

Halloween and wrestling - seems like a natural fit, no?

Halloween is a huge holiday in the US, bigger than here in the UK and most other countries. I mean, the Americans just love Halloween, whether it's fancy dress, trick or treating, watching a movie based on the holiday or, perhaps, a WCW pay-per-view spectacular based around it.

With WWE being the big dog of the wrestling world, it€™s always shocked me that they€™ve never really gotten behind Halloween by having a Halloween-themed PPV or anything. Sure, there's been episodes of Raw and Smackdown with a few token references, but it's never been a big deal to Vince and co.

The following five gimmick matches all took place specifically for Halloween. They range from the lazy battle royals to the use of monster trucks to set up title matches.

WCW will always be the most synonymous with the holiday because of the Halloween Havoc pay per-view. They€™d build elaborate sets with smoke, pumpkins, gravestones and lots of other great backdrops to the matches. When WWE bought WCW, I€™d hoped we€™d get it back some day.

Maybe I€™ll get my wish in the form of a Network special in the future, who knows? In the meantime, here are the 5 outrageous Halloween gimmick matches that you need to know about.
