There was much intrigue going into the handicap match for the SmackDown Women's Championship. Among the many questions surrounding this difficult to predict bout, was would we see Nikki Cross emerge from the shadow of Alexa Bliss? In other words, was this going to be a crowning moment for the much beloved Scot?
No, is the answer. Bayley won the match clean, seeing off both competitors and pinning Cross. Sasha Banks wasn’t needed to even the odds and there wasn’t even a hint of dissension between the heels.
This really underlines where WWE see Cross at present. She may be a valued member of the roster but she is going to have to pay a few more WWE dues before reaching the upper echelons of the women’s division.
