5 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Stomping Grounds 2019
3. Shane Over Story
What is with all this focus on Shane McMahon? Did somebody just interrupt a creative meeting and say, "You know what people want to see? Shane McMahon make the Roman Reigns/Drew McIntyre feud all about him!"?, or perhaps it was more of a collective idea? Either way, it doesn't change the fact that it was one of the worst creative moves of the year (and that's really saying something).
The Reigns/McIntyre feud may seem like it's been dragged out to the point where nobody cares about it anymore, but at least that made even the slightest bit of sense. Shane was just supposed to be the stop-gap in between the feud while WWE tried out new long-form methods of storytelling.
However, the creative team once again proved that, in their incapable hands, even the most exciting experiments can be a bad thing and, as a result, Shane has now become this all-powerful mastermind while the 'Scottish Psychopath' has become nothing more than a devoted henchman, protecting the (believe it or not) real Big Bad.
Stomping Grounds made the whole thing worse because, we finally got the long-awaited rematch between Reigns and McIntyre, only for Shane to get involved and (you guessed it) make it all about himself.
This was WWE's chance to end this lifeless feud how it started, demoting Shane to the footnote that he was originally supposed to be. Unfortunately, it's set to continue, and so is Shane's rampage.
Everybody loves a bit of Shane-O-Mac every now and again but this is getting beyond a joke.
